A LITTLE PEP IN THEIR STEP

ULTIMATELY, Arsenal got the job done.

It was not pretty, it was nerve-jangling and was never going to be as easy as Manchester United's merchants of doom would have you believe.

Victory at Old Trafford is still a hallmark of champions and Arsenal have at least taken the title race to the final day of the season.

Mikel Arteta's men regained top spot from Manchester City and now need their bitter rivals Tottenham to do them a favour when they face Pep Guardiola's reigning champions tomorrow night.

Does that sound unlikely? Well, put it this way: if Liverpool get a result at Aston Villa on Monday night then Spurs will at least have something to play for when they face City. They could still leapfrog Villa for fourth place.

Arsenal need a miracle but they have pushed arguably the best team in the history of the Premier League all of the way.

That is some tribute to the job Arteta has done in his four-and-a-half years at Arsenal, even if his team got a dose of the jitters and were well below their best at Old Trafford.
