Buttler laments 'same old story' for his chumps

THE baton was passed from the defending chumps to the champions-elect after another thrashing for England.

For the first time, England have lost four matches in a row at a World Cup. In the same format they loved four years ago, there is still room for more humiliation.

Defeat by 100 runs by India - the favourites - is not an unexpected result for this shambles of a side.

But after they at last showed spirit and skill in the field, and with the ball, they collapsed spectacularly again with the bat.

Last year England were skittled for 110 by Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami in a heavy defeat at The Oval - and the pace pair were the chief destroyers here with 3-32 and 4-22 respectively.

Back then Jos Buttler said batting remained his team's "super strength".
