Holiday hotspots to beat the cost-of-living crisis

Sunseekers will see their pounds stretch furthest in Cape Town and the resorts of Marmaris and Sunny Beach, according to the Post Office’s annual Holiday Money Report.

It compared costs for typical holiday items including meals, snacks, drinks and sun cream to compile an alluring lowdown of travel savings.

Cape Town has the lowest prices for UK visitors, driven by the rand’s near-16 per cent fall against sterling in recent months and competitive costs in bars and restaurants.

A three-course evening meal for two with a bottle of house wine typically costs just £35.80 in the South African coastal city. Runner-up Marmaris may not be able to match it – with the same treat costing £58 – but the plummeting Turkish lira means holidaymakers get much more for their money.
