She even rather crassly compared her encounter with Elizabeth II to a chicken dinner at US themed restaurant chain Medieval Times.
Harry looked on as his wife showed how she performed a deep curtsy when she met the Queen over lunch in Windsor's Royal Lodge soon after the pair's relationship went public in 2016.
But Meghan said the occasion felt like being at Medieval Times, where family diners in fake castles watch sword fights and jousting.
Harry said, to the camera: "She [Meghan] had no idea what it all consisted of. So it was a bit of a shock to the system for her."
His wife added, grinning: "I mean. It's surreal. There wasn't like some big moment of 'Now you're gonna meet my grandmother'. I didn't know I was going to meet her until moments before. He [Harry] was like, 'Oh, my grandmother is here'.
"We were in the car, driving and he's [Harry] like, 'You know how to curtsy, right?' And I just thought it was a joke."
The Duke added: "How do you explain that? How do you explain that you bow to your grandmother? And that you would need to curtsy, especially to an American. That's weird."
