Racing Chepstow in the spotlight with three days of good quality action

THERE was an oddity in football this summer when Chelsea, en route to winning the FIFA Club World Cup, were still in their 2024-25 campaign as other teams were playing preseason friendlies for this season.

Some might think British horseracing has a problem with its seasons, which is topical because Chepstow's fixtures today, tomorrow and on Sunday are seen as a starting point for the jumps; autumn leaves are falling, it will soon be winter and then the big festivals arrive in the spring.

However, the season officially started on May 3 - a week after the previous one had ended - and a lot of summer jumping has flown under the bridge since, including 100 winners for champion jockey Sean Bowen, who has built up a huge lead in his bid for another title.
