Quay points Boat owners warned over 'mischievous' passers-by

BOATERS have been urged to secure their vessels in the harbour safely to avoid further "mischievous" people setting boats loose.
Some boats are only secured by a rope tied to publicly accessible bollards and one was recently untied by a mystery man caught on video.
Earlier this month a man wearing a wide-brimmed hat was spotted on CCTV untying the mooring ropes of the 200-tonne research vessel Lady Kate, which is docked at Hannover Quay. The boat then drifted away from the quayside, but was luckily moored on its other end too.
This isn't the first time it's happened, councillors on the harbour committee were told on Tuesday, with the Balmoral previously targeted as well.
