Eight nabbed in VGH fraud case

Eight suspects, including a retired colonel and a doctor at the Veterans General Hospital (VGH), were arrested yesterday for alleged medication embezzlement with damages of up to 60 million baht.
Pol Maj Gen Charoonkiat Pankaew, Deputy Commissioner of the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB), said yesterday the arrests were a result of a month-long investigation. Police raided 17 locations in Bangkok, Chon Buri, Lop Buri and Prachin Buri yesterday.
The authorities seized large quantities of illicit medicines, including Pradaxa blood thinners, and uncovered 10.9 million baht in cash, land deeds, and falsified pharmaceutical records.
