DESIGNING ICONS
Commercial Design|March 2024
There's a glistening new silhouette amid the Dubai skyline. As home to the world's longest cantilevered building, it's both an architectural marvel and the city's new culinary hot spot.
DESIGNING ICONS

The doors have opened to Dubai's latest feat of architecture. The Link is a panoramic sky podium that connects the two towers of One Za'abeel, 100 metres above ground. It's the worlds longest sky cantilever and is home to a 220 metre viewing platform, a handful of high-end eateries and the UAE's longest suspended swimming pool.

While the structure's exterior is certainly awe-inspiring, the interior design within the building's F&B outlets, largely the work if LW Design Group, is just as impressive.

"Over the last century, Dubai has become the benchmark for world class architectural landmarks. LW is honoured and so proud to have designed to some key interior elements of this iconic milestone adding to the impressive skyline of Dubai," Jesper Godsk, Founder and CEO of LW Design Group.

The firm was approached in 2018 to design two floors of the One&Only Resort at One Za'abeel, and in 2021 the firm was also commissioned to design design Kerzner's first fitness brand hotel called SIRO which is located from level 30-38 within the hotel tower. "Level four and level 27 were briefed to us to design, and to add to the F&B repertoire of the iconic One & Only One Za'abeel," explains Pooja Shah-Mulani, Partner and Design Director at LW. "The term 'Urban resort' was at the forefront," she adds.
