HOW MUCH IS A FOOTPEG WORTH?
Q. I have a ZZR1400 and as I'm getting a little longer in the tooth, I began to find that I was getting pain in my neck and knees when riding it for anything longer than three hours or so, despite it being a 'sports tourer? As I love the bike, I decided to get a straight bar conversion and some lowered pegs to see if that would help. I'm not the most mechanically minded man so I booked into my local bike dealer to get the parts fitted and have a service.
They had it about a week, and once done, they called me to pick it up. I duly paid the bill and set off the long way home.
The change in riding position was amazing and I couldn't have been happier until about three hours in when I bowled into a right-hander. And that is when the right-hand footpeg fell off.
As I had no platform to place the weight from my right foot on the big Kwak I immediately moved over the crown of the road, placing me in immediate danger of oncoming vehicles.

How to maintain your battery
Most riders won't notice that anything is amiss with their battery until they press the ignition switch and their motorcycle fails to start. With a little bit of luck, they might be able to recharge the battery, but that takes time. Should the battery have become deeply discharged, and beyond recovery, then it will need replacing, causing more time lost and unwelcome expense. Often overlooked, battery maintenance is simple and, apart from keeping your battery in top working condition, will also significantly extend its lifespan. What's not to like? MSL asked the battery saving experts at OptiMate to explain the theory behind the practice of battery maintenance.
