Discover India|August 2017

Mirik was, for long, the abode of British tea planters who played polo by the lake here. It was only in the mid 1970s that Mirik began to develop as a tourist destination and attracted domestic travellers.

Blessed with natural beauty and a cool climate, much of the action in Mirik is around Sumendu lake, located at the centre of the town. It is flanked by the Savitri Pushpaudyan garden on one side and a pine grove on the other.
