NBI summons 11 men over Dacera death

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has summoned 11 persons of interest in the death of 23-year-old flight attendant Christine Angelica Dacera, an official said yesterday.

NBI officer-in-charge Eric Distor told The STAR that the bureau’s death investigation division issued subpoenas to 11 respondents, including Dacera’s friends who were last seen with her during a party in a hotel room in Makati before she was found dead on Jan. 1.

Distor said the NBI also summoned Dacera’s records from the Makati Medical Center, where Dacera was pronounced dead on arrival.

The NBI forensic team secured tissue samples from Dacera’s body for a second autopsy before she was laid to rest yesterday in General Santos City, according to Distor.

Dacera was buried at the Forest Lake Memorial Park as her family sought justice.

Police escorted the burial of Dacera, whose mother, Sharon, is a Marine reservist.

Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra had ordered the NBI to step in, saying the Makati police investigation was not “thorough enough.”

The NBI will also summon at least seven guests in the room next to Dacera’s and her friends.
