ASSAM CM Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday tabled the Assam Cattle Preservation Bill seeking a ban on cattle slaughter besides prohibiting the sale of beef in certain areas.
The Bill also bans the transport of cattle from one district to another and outside Assam for checking bovine smuggling to Bangladesh, which shares a 263-km long border with the state.
