MARK ORMROD IS DELIGHTED WITH ARTWORK IN PEVERELL
Superb mural honours city's military hero

A MILITARY veteran has created a stunning mural of one of Plymouth’s favourite sons – Mark Ormrod.

Kevin Preston has spent the last few weeks designing, creating and painting the piece of artwork on the side of a house at the junction of Pounds Park Road and Western Park Road in Peverell, and he has held an unveiling with the help of the mural’s subject.

Kevin, 57, served in the 1st Battalion Coldstream Guards, joining the Coldstream Guards Association, where another member suggested he join the art group. There he rekindled his love of art, but it was not until he suffered a serious back injury in Northern Ireland – and as he convalesced after four operations – that he turned his passion of art into therapy as well as a hobby.

Since then he has gone on the create and even sell his military-inspired art as well as generate funds for the charity Help for Heroes with his T-shirt designs.
