AN illegal dog breeder who boasted of selling puppies to celebrities in the United States made just over £63,000 by operating without a licence, a court heard.
Michael Dawson, aged 50, sold dogs over Facebook and Instagram without a permit from Plymouth City Council for 16 months.
Dawson returned to Plymouth Crown Court under the Proceeds of Crime Act as the council seeks to make him pay back his ill-gotten gains, but he is contesting the application, saying that full payment of the sum would be out of proportion to the crime.
