West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool supremo Mamata Banerjee on Thursday announced that Bengal minister and party leader Firhad Hakim will become the new mayor of Kolkata.
Trinamool state president Subrata Bakshi nominated Hakim as the leader of the newly-elected councillors of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation.
Hakim said: "We will work by following the path shown by Mamata Banerjee. I will fulfill the responsibility she has given me with dignity.”
