Swan was a star defender at Sheffield Wednesday and had won 19 England caps before he was banned from the sport in 1964 and then later jailed for four months.
Along with fellow Owls players Tony Kay and David Layne, Swan had placed a bet on Wednesday to lose in an away match at Ipswich in December 1962.
The Owls were beaten 2-0 at Portman Road which netted the trio £100 each on a 2-1 bet at a time when star players earned around £20 a match.
