NEW DELHI: India on Friday recorded the highest ever 2,17,353 new Coronavirus cases that mounted the COVID-19 tally to 1,42,91,917, while active cases surpassed the 15-lakh mark. It’s for the second day in a row that the country has reported over two lakh cases.
According to the Health Ministry’s data updated at 8 am, the death toll has increased to 1,74,308 with 1,185 new fatalities, which is the highest since September 19, 2020.
Registering a steady increase for the 37th day in a row, the active cases have increased to 15,69,743, comprising 10.98 percent of the total infections, while the national Cobvid-19 recovery rate dropped to 87.80 per cent.
The number of people who have recovered from the disease increased to 1,25,47,866, while the case fatality rate has further dropped to 1.22 percent.
Ten states comprising Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat Kerala, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal have shown a steep rise in daily new COVID-19 cases of the new infections.
