Apprehending Net Bans, Singhu Farmers Installing Optical Fibre

NEW DELHI: After having experienced the disconnect with the world when the Government cut-off internet services at the border protest sites, farmers protesting the Centre's three agri laws at the Singhu protest site have now planned to set up a separate optical fibre line Wi-Fi facility in case Internet services are suspended again.

Since the Republic Day violence in the Capital, many services at border protest sites had been withdrawn but after BKU leader Rakesh Tikait's emotional speech mobilised a fresh batch of farmers to join the agitation, security and other services are being stepped up at the Singhu border in a show of their resolve to stay put.

Installation of CCTV cameras for enhanced security, electric fans to beat the heat in the coming months and LCD screens to display speeches given by leaders at the main stage are among some of the upgrades the border protest site is working on.

We are strengthening our communication and other infrastructure to continue the agitation for a long period, said Deep Khatri associated with managing logistics at the Singhu Border protest site.
