A MAN who denies murdering an Irish boxing champion "thundered" a jeep into him and drove over him twice, a trial heard yesterday.
The Central Criminal Court also heard the accused Logan Jackson had an exchange with Kevin Sheehy.
This happened moments after leaving a house party where they had gone to celebrate Limerick's Munster hurling final victory over Tipperary.
The court was told that "some exception was taken by something that was said”.
Jackson, 31, has pleaded not guilty to murder but guilty to the 20-year-old's manslaughter on July 1, 2019.
Mr Sheehy, a five-time Irish boxing champion, died after being struck by a vehicle. His body was discovered lying on the road at about 4.40 am.
Opening the prosecution's case, Dean Kelly explained that on the day before the killing, it was "a sporting day in a sporting city” with "half of Limerick at the match”.
