Stockpiled Food Goes Into Waste

Experts say Brits stockpiled an extra £1billion of food over the past two weeks – much of it fresh – in a Covid-19 panic.

And judging by shock photos of people’s bins much of it has rotted. Heaps of often unopened meat, fruit and veg could be seen.

Former Liberal Democrat councillor Ajit Singh Atwal collected a gallery of images to shame the culprits in Derby.

He said: “If you have gone out and panic bought and stacked up your houses with unnecessary items you don’t normally buy or you have bought in more food than you need, then you need to take a good look at yourself.”

Ajit’s message sparked fury and demands to prosecute wasters.
