The Queen has been ordered to put her health first after being forced to cancel a planned trip to Northern Ireland due to ill health.
The monarch, 95, was feeling a little tired” on Tuesday evening before doctors were called to her quarters at Windsor Castle, it is understood.
On waking yesterday ahead of a planned departure from her Berkshire home at noon to travel to Belfast, the Queen was said to be “showing slight signs of a seasonal cold”.
Her Majesty, who has had a packed series of engagements since returning from her summer break at Balmoral, took a Covid test which was negative.
But medics advised her to take a period of immediate rest for the next few days.
The nation's longest reigning monarch is resting at Windsor Castle but will still receive her ministerial red boxes.
She is still expected at this stage to host a reception in Glasgow on November 1 for the COP26 climate change conference.
