NICOLA CURRIE is on a major mission to make up for lost time.
And as the Arran arrow sets about her task the Scot will try riding along the wave of success being savoured among close weighing-room pals such as Oisin Murphy as she hurtles back into top gear.
Currie has already displayed her burgeoning talents in the saddle in the ultra-tough racing game.
The 26-year-old was crowned all-weather apprentice champion last year and also rode a big winner at Ascot last summer aboard Raising Sand for her chief supporter Jamie Osborne in the International Stakes Heritage Handicap.
But typically in the up and down nature of racing, within days of that golden success Currie was plunged back to earth after a freak fall at Yarmouth to sustain a back injury that kept her out for a month and halted the spectacular momentum.
Having recovered from that to get back into the groove the brakes were again applied and this year’s targets put on hold as Covid-19 shut racing down in the UK for over two months.
But Currie isn’t one for wasting time. She needed just three rides back to hit the winners enclosure on Hieronymus at Kempton last week and isn’t for hanging about in the coming weeks.
