Solskjaer backs protests against Glazers but vows to improve relationships between the fans and the owners

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has called for unity among Manchester United fans following the storming of Old Trafford.

United boss Solskjaer said supporters had a right to protest against the Glazers, the club’s despised owners, but condemned the violent scenes on Sunday.

The Liverpool game was called off following a pitch invasion while six police officers were left injured.

Solskjaer admitted he was in a “difficult” position given his allegiance with the fans and his relationship with his employers.

But the Norwegian promised disillusioned fans there will be better communication from the Florida-based Glazers amid the fall-out.

“I’m hopeful that, in time, we can unite and come together,” said Solskjaer. “Frictions and challenges are sometimes good, sometimes it can move things forward.
