A MAN given infected blood while at a boarding school linked to at least 72 deaths has told an inquiry the “scars will never heal”.
Gary Webster was a pupil at Lord Mayor Treloar College, where in the 1970s and 1980s pupils were treated for haemophilia at an on-site NHS centre.
It was later found that many of them had been given blood products such as plasma infected with hepatitis and HIV.
Mr Webster told the Infected Blood Inquiry on its first day yesterday: “We were told this was an unavoidable accident, we now know this to be untrue.
