The number of online scammers masquerading as romantic partners jumped by 16 per cent last year, and the average victim lost a staggering £8,655, according to new data from Lloyds Bank. Those between 45 and 54 were most likely to be tricked, while victims aged between 55 and 64 lost most, £15,957 on average.
