Photographer Stephen Wilkes—who shot this month’s cover—documents the passage of time at landmarks around the world in his series “Day to Night,” currently on view.
The photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson wrote about “the decisive moment”: that unrepeatable split second when a composition aligns that captures the essence of a situation. But what if an image could capture dozens of decisive moments, not just from one instant but over the course of an entire day? For the past few years, Stephen Wilkes has been doing just that with his time-lapse photography project “Day to Night,” a monograph of which will be published by Taschen next spring.
