The Director of Da Milano, Shivani Malik is a woman on a mission to convert the brand into a leading retailer among the young consumers.
There are certain brands that are synonymous with luxury and high-end craftsmanship – known for being the crème de la crème of their market. When it comes to handbags, that brand is Da Milano. Classic elegance and enduring sophistication have always been the basis of the signature Da Milano style, supported with state-of-the-art technology and creativity. Be it handbags, portfolio bags, travel bags, wallets or accessories, its iconic style defines luxury of the highest quality.
Behind the charm
Da Milano has charmed its way into the hearts and onto the arms of consumers around the world. Founded in 1998, its handbag goes beyond charms, encompassing a variety of tote, hobo, sling or clutch bags. These are all produced in line with the company’s vision of allowing women to be creative with their self-expression through handbags. Today, Da Milano has more than 85 stores including operated showrooms at 23 airports in India, 5 showrooms in the UAE and 1 in Nepal. Rosso Brunello has 9 standalone stores, 27 dual brands (with Da Milano) stores in India and four stores in UAE.
Shivani Malik is a woman with grand plans. But when it comes to what enthuses the visionary leader of the affordable luxury handbag brand, who has been working in the fashion industry for more than a decade, she simply describes her style to be trendy and classy. She talks about responsibility, sustainability and how she is evolving the luxury heritage handbag brand with S&A’s Dipika Chopra.
Tell us a bit about the journey so far.
After completing my graduation in Economics honor from the University of Delhi, I procured a specialization in Economics and Finance from Warwick Business School, United Kingdom. I entered the business back in 2007 when Da Milano had only two stores. In 2010, I co-founded Rosso Brunello, a leading footwear brand in India and UAE.
