Heart’s Desires
I used to work abroad but was laid off from the company I was with for over 30 years. I wasn’t even given any compensation because of a legal loophole in my contract! I came home to the Philippines in December without a job, my savings slowly depleting due to the needs of my family. Then during Christmas Mass, the priest said that if Christ’s visitors were able to find Him, how much more we, who seek Him the most, and our heart’s desires as well. I prayed for a job that could sustain my family—it wouldn’t matter if the pay wasn’t as high as my previous employer’s. Three days later, I got a job offer from Singapore. I was to start on the first week of 2019 and the pay was significantly higher.
