At the end of each school year, as the weather turns from spring to summer, thousands journey to the beautiful beaches of Gulf Shores for an unforgettable music festival. Decked out in bathing suits and airbrushed T-shirts, festival-goers swim in the cool water, dance on white sand beaches, and enjoy live music for three days of Hangout Music Fest.

“At Jackson Prep, it’s become a rite of passage for seniors to attend Hangout Fest. The day after graduation, they head down to Gulf Shores for the festival,” says Lisa Dyess, a talented artist and trained set designer. “They look forward to it every year, and I thought it would be a perfect senior party theme for Kate Oliver and Blake Painter.”

Kate shares, “Blake and I have been good friends since the seventh grade, and always carpooled to school together.” The childhood friends felt it seemed only natural to celebrate their upcoming graduation together.

Lisa, who specializes in event planning and interior design, was asked to create their event. She began designing an outdoor fête with a relaxed festival vibe, inspired by Hangout Fests from the past. “I envisioned live music in a fun, beautiful outdoor venue, and the Town of Livingston seemed like the perfect spot.” Lisa reached out to the Hangout Fest team in Gulf Shores, who graciously sent authentic posters, T-shirts, and bumper stickers for the event. “They were incredible to work with,” says Lisa.
