Play it loud, OK?

We don’t know about you, but here at ARR HQ we reckon a parallel twin without a decent set of cans is like a milkshake without enough flavouring. All that rorty Brit goodness, nobly announcing your arrival way before you get there. That chocolatey basso profound saying all that’s good about a twin streeter. And people listen. Sometimes nodding in approval, sometimes tutting and tasking all the way from the Toyota to the checkout. But they be hearing’. Yes indeedy.

We’ve had our Racing Yellow Street Cup in the ARR bunker for 10 weeks now and have covered 2500km in that time. It’s loosened up nicely. The box was a little tight and over precise but now it snicks through very neatly indeed. There’s no hiding from the fact that brakes aren’t the bike’s strong point; I’d love to see a dual disc setup there. With the pretty soft front end, the pressure at the lever is more than I’d like, making it a little divey. We may go for a set of heavier fork springs and a touch heavier oil there.

When it comes to bike luggage, my preference is usually a set of soft saddle bags; you can throw them on and off easily, and they make sense whether you’re packing for a day trip or a months-long adventure.

Keeping Girls On Motorcycles

On any given weekend at your local motorcycle club, you will see throngs of kids blasting around on dirt bikes having a great time. More often than not, it’s at these local club tracks where kids are introduced to motorbikes. Boys and girls (under 10 years old) get out there and simply enjoy riding their bike without too much competition. Not many of the kids or parents care where they finish in the pack — it’s just about having fun.
