Twenty-one-year-old Kim Jin-Kyung took part in Koreas next top model by chance six years ago, and ended up taking second place in the competition. She has since successfully transitioned into acting, heating up the web and small screens with a handful of dramas including Yellow, Andante, and Tofu personified. And if all that isn't enough, Kim wants to rule seoul's cafe scene too she's learning baking, four days a week
You started your career when you were just 15. What was it like to start so young?
I didn’t think or dream about becoming a model. By accident, I found a casting call for season two of Korea’s Next Top Model. I tried it out, and it just happened. I’m really happy that my life has changed. I lost my student life, but I’m not really sad about that.
What has been your favourite modelling moment of your career so far?
Probably my first Seoul Fashion Week, where I opened for SJYP, which is a big brand.
You made your acting debut in 2016 with web drama, Yellow. How much have you settled into being an actress?
My new show is a web drama, which I started shooting in June. It’s quite early in my career as an actress. I was a little scared of acting, as it’s something that’s so new to me. But when I was filming this web drama, I started getting more comfortable in acting, and I feel like I’m working well with the other actors on set.
