On playing the role of a visionary in bringing dream weddings to life

“ONE OF THE MOST MAGICAL transformations we’ve effected took place on an idyllic island in the middle of the Indian Ocean. It was a wedding on an untouched island, amid the vast sea, and it took years of hard work and impossibly detailed coordination.

We carved out a mini logistics department, with team members dedicated to ensuring every piece of furniture, every flower, rod and structure is properly numbered, and scheduled to arrive safely on location months before us. Trucks didn’t exist on the island, so we shipped in our own, via cranes. We constructed man-made water bodies to provide water for the tonnes of fresh florals flown in, and the team worked relentlessly around the clock just to create that one show-stopping moment.

But the satisfaction from that moment made it all worthwhile, which motivates us to want to go at it all over again.

Since the day I started in this profession, I can candidly say that no two days have ever been the same. Some occupations allow you a sense of routine, however, with event planning for weddings — despite all the coordination and details — every day is different.
