Yiqing Yin might not be a familiar name in the fashion week circuit, but in the haute couture arena, she’s no stranger. The 35-year-old is originally from Beijing, China, moved to Australia at the age of four and is now settled in Paris, France. Besides being an haute couture designer who is recognised by the Federation Francaise de la Couture and exhibited around the world, Yin is also known to have worked with other prestigious brands and most recently, with Vacheron Constantin.
The latter, however, represents something new for her — a new type of working relationship she’s never had before with other brands where she joins the exclusive list of “One of Not Many” talents for the Swiss watchmaker. She joins the ranks of people like photographer-explorer Cory Richards and musician-poet Benjamin Clementine, but Yin is also the first female trailblazer, and one who shares the same values as the horologerie house.
