The Vaishnavaite temple at Thiruvidandai (also called as Vandalur) is one of the hallowed Divyadesams of Maha Vishnu. This is an ancient temple more than 1000 years old and is located at a distance of about 40 km from the city of Chennai, in the Indian state of Tamilnadu. This holy place is also known as ‘Sripuri’ and ‘Varaghapuri’. The Glory of this temple has been sung and described in the Tamil Mangalasasanam Hyms of the Vaishnavaite Alwars, especially by the saints Tirumangai Alwar and Manavala Mamunigal. This temple gained lavish patronage from the Kings of the Chola Dynasty between the 10th-11th centuries A.D. The specialty of this temple is that, it is the only Vaishnavaite temple among the 108 Divyadesams of Lord Sri Maha Vishnu, where the Lord’s Celestial Wedding is performed 365 days of the year!
