‘Our hearts are completely broken'

Sports stars Lisa Curry and Grant Kenny announced on September 14 that their eldest daughter, Jaimi Lee Curry Kenny, had tragically passed away aged 33.

“It is with a very heavy heart that Lisa and I confirm that our beautiful daughter Jaimi has lost her battle with a long-term illness and passed away peacefully in hospital this morning in the company of loving family,” Grant said in a statement. “Our hearts are broken and the pain is immense but we must move forward cherishing every wonderful moment we got to share with our treasured first child.”

Queensland’s The Courier-Mail newspaper reported that Jaimi had “secretly battled an eating disorder in the years and months before her tragic death”.

Olympic swimmer Lisa, 58, and Ironman champion Grant, 57, married in 1986 and quickly became Australia’s golden couple. During their 23 years together, they welcomed Jaimi, daughter Morgan, 29 – who’s just weeks away from welcoming her second child – and son Jett, 26.
