When it comes to broadcasting, Lynette Francis-Puren is more used to TV shows like SABC2 current affairs show Fokus (2009-now) and radio show Praat Saam on RSG, talking in a controlled voice as she discusses important content. But she’s positively bubbling about her new role: presenting brand-new cooking contest reality show Kontreikos Kokke on SABC2 (*192). “It’s wonderful! Seeing these people, from these little dorpies, going into battle with their pots, pans and ingredients! They are cooking everyday dishes but they’re not allowed to prepare beforehand. And the best thing, because we’re going to these little towns, everyone has their own specific way of doing things – and their way is always ‘the right way’. Well, now they’re putting that to the test,” says the host, who admits that while she loves entertaining and cooking, she would be terrified of the world watching her fry and sauté on telly.
