New in Cappagh blue: DC Rail unveils third Class 60
Rail Express
|February 2020
DCR’s parent company gets a shout out on the latest ‘Tug’ to return to the main line after a rebuild at Toton.
-

THE third Class 60 in the DC Rail ‘Super 60’ programme, No. 60028, was shown off in its striking new Cappagh blue livery in December.
It undertook load bank tests in the first week of the month before working a light engine shakedown run from Toton to Leicester and back on the 6th, still in Railfreight triple-grey with EWS ‘big beasties’ logo – its first trip on the mainline under its own power since November 2008.
The ‘Tug’ was unveiled in its new Cappagh Group of Companies blue and grey livery on December 18, after a visit to the Toton paint facility, before being sent on a loaded test run on the 20th on the 6E02 Toton-Boston steel working with No. 60007 for insurance, returning to Toton the same evening with the 6M08 to Wolverhampton. It also moved from DB Cargo’s WQAA pool to DCR’s HTLX pool the same day. No. 60028 is expected to return to service in January.
