UPL Completes Four Decades Of Journey, Awards Best Books, Authors

Marking the occasion of completing four decades of journey in quality publishing, the University Press Limited on 10 March recognised 18 books, 16 individuals and six institutions with the UPL Excellence Awards 2018 recognizing their contribution and impact on the 40 years long journey.

UPL Completes Four Decades Of Journey, Awards Best Books, Authors

A special Extraordinary Best Seller Award went to the singular title, Unfinished Memoirs of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman while eminent economist Professor RehmanSobhan and distinguished soil scientist Hugh Brammer were selected for the Lifetime Achievement Awards.

Best Seller Award (Fiction and Non-Fiction) went to Prodoshe Prakritojon, Chihlekothar Sepoy, Porarthoporotar Orthonity, Muldhara  Ekattor, Ekattorer Smrity, Probashe Muktijuddherdinguli, Postcards from Bangladesh and Sailing against the Wind.

Other award categories were the Outstanding Impact Award, Prolific Author Award, Support Institution Award, Associate Award and Patron Award.

Jothashobdo, The Cruel Birth of Bangladesh: Memoirs of an American Diplomat, Bangladesh Politics: Problems and Issues, Economic Geography of Bangladesh, Rotting from the Head: Donors and LDC Corruption, Pakistanider Drishtite Ekattor, Lost Innocence, Stolen Childhoods, A Simple Solution: Teaching Millions to Treat Diarrhoea at Home and Sheikh Mujib: Triumph and Tragedy received the Outstanding Impact Award while Niaz Zaman and Moudud Ahmed received Prolific Author Award.
