We say: A Roaring vs Massive heritage. A bit raw but that’s just how we like it
The Mustang needs no introduction. It is one of the most romanticised automobiles the world has seen. The story began more than half a century ago. And despite the fact that it was never made for the right-hand-drive part of the planet, many dreamt about owning one someday. Thankfully, Ford finally saw the sense in the idea of taking the quintessential American muscle car to the world and the first right-hand-drive Mustang was born last year.
And now, the pony car is here. In India. After revealing its intent of selling the Mustang, in India, Ford launched it at an ex-showroom price of `65 lakh for the legend. Pricey. But apart from its impressive lineage, you’ll get the full-on muscle car experience. The 5.0-litre V8 under the hood of this GT has nearly 400 horses and a serious 515Nm of torque going to the rear wheels. You know this car means business.
It looks like it means business, too. You cannot mistake this for anything else, not with the galloping pony on the grille. Yes, not subtle, but then the Mustang isn’t about being under the radar. The extra-long bonnet, the short cabin with a sloping roof extending almost all the way to the rear like a classic fastback, all reek of style. The rear wheel haunches add to the muscular look and neatly flow into the upward lip at the rear. Speaking of which, the rear is dominated by the blacked-out panel that blends in nicely with the rest of the car. A GT badge and the trademark tri-band tail-lamps complete this muscle in metal.
