The Cowboys were relatively quiet in free agency during the offseason.
Dallas Cowboys
They re-signed wide receiver Terrance Williams to a four-year, $17 million deal. Williams averaged 13.5 yards per reception last season and will most likely be Dak Prescott’s No. 2 receiver in the Cowboys offense behind Dez Bryant. Dallas also re-signed wide receiver Brice Butler.
In an effort to improve their secondary, the Cowboys signed cornerback Nolan Carroll to a three-year, $10 million contract. However, in May, Carroll was arrested on a drunken driving charge in Dallas. This would be one of many offfield issues for Cowboys players this offseason. Recently, it was announced that Cowboys defensive end David Irving would receive a four-game suspension for violating the NFL’s policy against performance-enhancing drugs.
But Carroll and Irving were not the only members of the Cowboys defense to find trouble this offseason. In April, defensive end Randy Gregory failed a seventh (!) drug test. Before failing this latest test, he was already banned for the entire 2017 season. And earlier this month, linebacker Damien Wilson was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
