With the Intra, Tata Motors is keen to create a pool of aspirational CVs.
Much water has flown under the bridge after the Ace SCV was launched by Tata Motors in 2005. It marked the beginning of a new era and has since sold over 20 lakh units. Continuing to lead the market for SCVs, like the Tata 407 LCV did when it was introduced in 1986, the Tata Ace has grown in size and specifications. It has sprung new variants in tune with the tonnage shift and change in market requirements. Competition has grown too. With versions like the Tata SuperAce adding a new, bigger dimension to the brand, the Tata Ace will now enjoy the company of the stylish Intra as its manufacturer strives to keep the lead in the mini-truck domain. First shown at the Auto Expo 2018, the Intra along with other Tata CVs on display pointed at an emergence of a new design language. A language that was born out of the extensive feedback of customers and took into consideration other market vibes. Mincing no words to announce that a new design language was indeed at play on the CV as well as the PV front, Pratap Bose, the chief designer at Tata Motors, provided a rare insight into how the full range CV player was shifting gears.
