Geopolitics' November 2018 issue highlights the exemplary work being done by the country's Department of Revenue Intelligence to protecti India's economic interests along the country's vast coast line and long borders with neighbouring countries. It requires holistic treatment and radical measures. However, in India the Department of Defence Production has not risen to the occasion. And it is in that context, that the magazine focuses on Hindustan Aeronautics Limited. The country's premier aviation establishment, HAL has been invaluable in building a strong military aircraft manufacturing, repair and overhaul base. However, whether it is a matter of perception or reality, or something in between, in the view of the end-users who will use HAL's products in combat, the twin issues of quality control and production delays have hurt India's defence capability.
