esh 17 May 2023 issue commemorates the birth centenary of Mrinal Sen (1923-2018), the maverick film-maker, whose films ushered in the Neo-Wave in Indian Cinema. The five essays written by Sen's son Kunal Sen, actors Ranjit Mullick and Ashoke Mukhapadhyay and Film Studies professors Moinak Biswas and Sayandeb Chowdhury, explore the life, cinema and relevance of Mrinal Sen. The issue also carries the obituaries of the major Sub-Altern studies historian Ranajit Guha (written by Dipesh Chakrabarty and Gautam Bhadra) and the eminent author Samaresh Majumder (written by Shirshendu Mukhapadhyay and Bimal Kundu). A new novel, Shunya Pather Mallika by Smaranjit Chakrabarty is being serialized from this issue. Regular sections like Mantabya, Granthalok, Galpo, Shilpo Sanskriti, Chithipatra, Seshkatha etc are there as usual.
