Happy birthday to us! Novembers are always ­memorable for the family of Tatler Indonesia because it is our ­anniversary month, and even more so this year since we are celebrating our second decade. It is a historic moment for Tatler Indonesia to have grown in the Asia Tatler ­family beyond changing our magazine name and page layout back in March. Akin to being baptized and changed subsequently, it was a time of rebranding and redesign: a continuous process we are still going through to serve better our longtime readers and growing communities in Indonesia and around Asia.
Power, influence and style: our three tenets sum up the core of what Tatler Indonesia has always been about, and will be evolving into, as the meaning of these words ­expands to reflect the New Asia. The ­actor ­Wulan ­Guritno who stars as the cover muse for this special ­edition perfectly embodies the Tatler spirit. Read more in ­“Portrait of A Star” to see her power and ­influence as a leading lady in the Indonesian ­entertainment industry. Guritno’s style is no doubt the epitome of what a classic and elegant beauty one would expect to see within these pages, and yet she also brings about a breath of fresh air and creative change.
Similarly, we go deeper behind each topic presented here, including one of my favourite features that touch upon Felipe Oliveira Baptista carrying the Kenzo legacy forward after the iconic designer’s recent passing (“Going Places”). More coverages on fashion and beauty trends are always abounding here, but, a must-read is “Let’s Go Slow”, in which our editors talk to four Indonesian ­fashion designers about sustainability and slow fashion.
