A white hell out there - there's at least half a centimetre of slush
Yorkshire Evening Post
|December 03, 2025
According to my phone, there was a weather warning for yesterday. Possible danger to life! Risk of flooding! Journeys taking longer, some disruption to power supplies etc etc, blah blah blah.
It's getting to the stage now where I'm no longer alarmed by such dire predictions. I'm not even vaguely perturbed.
And it's not all the Met Office's fault either, most of it is down to social media.
Take a couple of weeks ago, for instance. A bit of snow was forecast - not altogether unheard of in late November. However, Facebook was full of dire predictions about 'where 3ft of snow will fall this week'.
You'd think we were in for another Beast from the East - or at the very least a Pest from the West.
Post after post urged people to stock up on essentials, wrap up warm and keep a shovel to hand just in case you need to dig yourself out of a 10ft snow drift.
