Stray cat saved kittens before being killed on road

A STRAY cat gave the final gift of safety to her kittens before she was killed by a car.

Four kittens are now being cared for by an animal charity after she saved three of them, with the fourth finding his own way to his siblings.

The story began when the cat wandered into the home of the Tamblyn family in Truro carrying a kitten in her mouth, deposited him on the kitchen floor and left.

When the mother returned 24 hours later with another kitten Jane Tamblyn rang the Cats Protection charity for advice.

"We live at the top of Chacewater Hill, between treacherous crossings", said Mrs Tamblyn, 67.

"The Kerley crossing, in particular, is a very dangerous stretch of road these days.
