Imerys plans £18m 'dry mining' plant with Shared Prosperity contribution

THE firm responsible for china clay extraction in Cornwall has announced an investment in its dry mining process of almost £18 million.

This project is part-funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. £2.1m of the cost will be met from the SPF, administered in Cornwall by the county's unitary authority through the Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly Good Growth Programme.
"The investment will allow Imerys to upgrade its clay processing facilities with an innovative new 'dry' mining plant, to be commissioned by the end of 2026", a spokesperson said.
"It is to be constructed in the Karslake area of Imerys' Littlejohns mine, just outside Roche in mid-Cornwall.
