SC to Hear Pleas on Delay in Judges' Appointments Cleared by Collegium

The Supreme Court on Thursday agreed to list a batch of pleas questioning the delay on the part of the Centre in appointment of judges after the collegium cleared their names.

A two-judge bench of the top court, headed by CJI B R Gavai and Justice K Vinod Chandran said it will hear the pleas after two weeks.

During the course of the hearing, senior advocate Arvind Datar and advocate Prashant Bhushan, appearing for the petitioners, mentioned urgent listing of the pleas, saying that the petitions were listed in 2023 but were suddenly dropped from the cause list.
