Residents' fears at plans for children's care home at house

The house on Thornleigh Road at Crosland Moor

An application looking to transform a property in Thornleigh Road into a children's home has been submitted to Kirklees Council.

Permission is sought to change the use of the building from a residential property to a children's home with a hip to gable extension.

A supporting planning statement explains that the home would care for two children between the ages of seven and 17 years old, with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties.

It would be staffed by one manager and six or seven full-time residential childcare workers.

The home would open every day, with staff working on a 24-hour rota.
