HELLBERG ON FAMILY, HIS INSPIRATION AND FULFILLING A ‘DREAM’ TO COACH IN ENGLAND
KIM Hellberg is planning to move his young family to Teesside early next year, having taking up the role of Middlesbrough head coach this week.
The highly-rated Swede replaces Rob Edwards at the helm of Boro having built a reputation in his home country for making every team he’s led better, while playing an attractive brand of attacking football.
And given the circumstances that Edwards left Boro, with being away from his family such a big factor, it will be welcome news to many supporters to hear the new boss plans to relocate his family for the role.
Initially, Hellberg will be making an incredible personal sacrifice, just weeks after his wife gave birth to their second child. As a family, he says, they've decided it’s the best thing while he gets settled into his new environment and new job, without the distraction of moving and settling his family at the same time.
Hellberg explained: “It is a big one [personal move]. My wife is coming over maybe at the end of January, something like that. So, you leave the wife. I have a son, named Harry, three years old, that is my star. I miss him already. But that’s life. And he supports me.
“We talked about it, and he already has a Middlesbrough shirt sent home to him. He'll watch the game in a Middlesbrough kit. I'm looking forward to that picture! I also have a girl, five weeks/six weeks old now. So, of course, that’s a special one. For now, I think it’s easier to just work all the time, because when I go home, it’s tougher!
